Yaki Sushi is the place I didn't know I needed until I stumbled in. Fresh food, a spotless space, and kind staff who had my salmon dish on the table before I could finish my water. Fast service, too. The adorable fish chandelier decor made me smile like a kid. Honestly, that salmon was a perfect dish. It was so good, I forgot I was in a strip mall. Worth every single mile I drove. sushi ohayo is a lunchtime revelation. The fish-to-rice ratio is absurd, in the best way. I ordered the hibachi steak and shrimp special, and it was fantastic. The steak had that perfect sear, the shrimp were plump, and the rice was buttery. Unbeatable value for the lunch special. I practically floated out of there. The AYCE sushi is fresh and creative, too, if you're feeling greedy. Service was quick and friendly. I am a repeat offender now. My only complaint is that I have to share this secret. Forget it. I'll keep going anyway.

Dolan Uyghur Restaurant surprised me completely. I walked in expecting a quick bite, but the gorgeous oasis-like blue décor stopped me in my tracks. Incredibly friendly staff welcomed me like an old friend. Now, the noodles. They're freshly made and richly savory, each strand a little hug. Unique and delicious. The tea and dessert presentation was exceptional, almost theatrical. I felt like I'd wandered into another world. I am not a Uyghur food expert, but I know what tastes good. This tastes phenomenal. I will be telling everyone I know about this place. Even strangers on the bus.

Karé Bar is my new hidden lunch spot. Okay, not hidden, but it should be. The eel over rice was delicious, all sweet and smoky. Staff speedy and friendly, which I appreciate when I'm hangry. The miso soup is the best in NOVA. I said what I said. Don't argue with me. The curry was savory, with these sweet carrots that made me do a double take. And the katsu? Perfectly cooked, seasoned to a crisp. I ate way too fast. My stomach hurt, but in a happy way. I'll be back for more punishment. Worth every bite.
